When Biscuits Call... Brunch at BLVD In Harlem
Hey Fabs! This past Saturday my dear friend who lives in Connecticut told me she’d be in town and we should meet for brunch. I told her to meet me on the boulevard! Or at BLVD in Harlem (www.blvdbistrony.com), New York, to be exact. The Yelp photos of the food snatched my eyeballs, but there was something about the smiles of the owners faces on the website that sealed the deal.
We were greeted and seated by Chef Carlos Swepson himself, who welcomed us in like old friends. The atmosphere was as warm and inviting as any relative’s living room. The venue itself is small and unassuming but loaded with charm. The wait staff felt like old friends; sincerely friendly and not overplayed. But the food! The food was delicious! The French toast melted in my mouth! There was a sweetness to this French toast that was just divine! Everything from the catfish to the eggs were were pure perfection. And even as the restaurant began to fill and elbows began to rub, no one seemed uncomfortable. Indeed, this meal and this restaurant felt like family. The best parts of family. The smiles. The good times. The great food. I will definitely be back!
The only thing that's missing is a picture of my French toast, and that's just because my picture doesn't do it justice! Trust me, the next time you are in Harlem - even if you live in Harlem - do not leave without stopping at BLVD Bistro (239 Lenox Ave., NY, NY).
